Following the disappointing outcome of the 2016 presidential election I started browsing the internet to check the availability of presidential campaign related URLs for potential democratic candidates in 2020. My reasoning behind this was primarily based on an episode of The League wherein the character Taco accidentally buys “dallascowboys.com” and then gets paid 250 thousand dollars to hand the url back over to the team. The show may be fiction, but the DNC is pretty well endowed, so I thought it might be worth a shot.
It turns out that pretty much everything is still available, though for wildly different prices. When I looked the url “corybookerforpresident.com” was was listed on GoDaddy at 100,000 dollars and the url “bookerforpresident.com” was listed at 10,000 dollars. Prices on both have since tanked, with the former now being available for a mere 7 grand and the latter having been sold at some undisclosed price (which I’m assuming was lower than 10 thousand dollars).
For the purposes of my future price negotiations with the DNC, I will refrain from stating the exact price at which I purchased coryforpresident.com. I can confirm that it is on such a different scale price wise that we felt the need to check and make sure there were no typos in the url (these sites also sell urls like corybookerforpresidents.com to trick people).
So now I am the proud owner of both coryforpresident.com and the free wix website it forwards too, which features the actual website “coryforpresident.com” and includes daily facts about Cory Booker, the junior senator from New Jersey who will definetely run for president in 2020 and make me my money back.
